Video report by ITV News Anglia's Natalie Gray
As part of Transgender Awareness Week ITV News Anglia has brought you Frankie's story and his battle to become a trans man.
In the third part of our series we hear from Petra, who for over six decades, lived as a man.
Four years ago Peter came out as Petra.
"It's a huge relief", she said.
"It really is and yes I can't say anymore than that. It is a huge relief . I feel totally comfortable."
Petra, who works in cyber security, lives near Ipswich in Suffolk with her wife of 47 years, Lorraine.
Petra becoming a trans woman hasn't made any difference to their solid relationship.
After more than sixty years as Peter, Petra at last feels happy in her skin.
With Loraine still by her side, life keeps getting better and better.
Petra says she's looking forward to Christmas as a family with her two sons and grandchildren.
