A Norwich City fan quickly got over watching his team lose a crucial Premier League relegation battle by winning £1 million on the National Lottery!

Terry Falgate, 48, was watching the Canaries play Watford on the TV in his local pub on November 8 when he decided to check his EuroMillions ticket on his phone after the 2-0 defeat.

Much to his amazement, he then found out that he'd become a millionaire!

Terry, who's from Stalham, couldn't believe his eyes and promptly got his mates to double-check his ticket.

After he was satisfied it wasn't a prank, he decided to buy a round of drinks to celebrate his win before heading home to tell his family the good news.

Although Terry admits he was disappointed his favourite team couldn't make his night even better, he says winning the jackpot was a pretty decent consolation...

"It was a normal Friday in the pub, having a few beers and watching Norwich lose again," he told ITV News Anglia.

"I checked my lottery ticket after the loss, and yeah, found out we'd won! It wasn't the best of games to be fair, but it was all good in the end - for me anyway!"

Terry is now planning to help his daughters, who are both aged in their twenties, to put down deposits for new houses and has already treated himself to a new hoover!

“I desperately needed a new vacuum, so I went to the shops, and I don’t mind saying, it was great going top of the range rather than the bog-standard run of the mill!”
