League Two side Cambridge United have sacked their head coach, Colin Calderwood. The news comes after the side lost 4-0 at home to Salford, which meant the U's have only picked up a solitary point in January.

Mark Bonner is to takes temporary charge. In a statement, Cambridge said a hunt for a permanent replacement is underway.

"We had all hoped that the Club would be able to push on under his leadership but after a reasonable start to the season everyone at the Club recognises that both results and performances have not been good enough in recent weeks."

The club added they would like to thank Colin Calderwood for his work at Cambridge United.

"I would like to put on record our respect for him as a head coach and a person. He has represented Cambridge United with honesty and integrity throughout his time with us and he leaves with our very best wishes.”
