  • Why has it been so stormy of late?

At the moment, we are in the firing line of the jet stream. At the end of 2019, the jet stream was generally positioned to the north of the UK so any weather systems that went through weren't particularly strong.

At the moment, the jet stream is very close to the UK and that's why we're seeing all of these low pressure systems crossing us - but more importantly, we're seeing these low pressure systems crossing us and causing impact.

  • Will Storm Dennis be worse than Storm Ciara?

Dennis doesn't look as severe as Ciara.

Ciara affected much of the UK, but Dennis at the moment looks to be affecting southern parts of the UK.

But, you can still expect the same type of interruptions. So, you're likely to see some interruptions to your travel, you may see some power outages as well, and certainly, you could see a few trees being brought down.

It's looking pretty busy on the weather charts for the next couple of weeks at least.

I know it feels like the weather should be changing because the days are getting longer, but actually the jet stream is staying close to the UK which means we're going to continue to see unsettled weather passing for the short-term at least.
