A couple from Northampton, who have tested positive for coronavirus, have left the the cruise ship in Japan where they've been for the last two weeks.

There's been some confusion over the last 48 hours, but in his latest online post David Abel says he and his wife Sally have arrived in hospital in Japan.

Mr Abel said they had both "contracted a cold and it has not yet turned into pneumonia".

"Following treatment we require two days of all clear tests then we go for another big third round of tests."

Others who had been on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, which had been quarantined in the Japanese port of Yokohama, have been able to return to the UK on an evacuation flight.

The Abels watched American and Canadian passengers removed.

I can't see that there's going to be any way we're on that flight to the UK. But the really brilliant thing is that all of the publicity that led to that flight taking place, I've done my job, that's what it was all about, helping the Brits that are out here."

The couple's on Steve has told ITV News his father in particular is now feeling the strain of their ordeal.

The quarantine has been a complete failure, it just hasn't worked has it? There's so many people falling with the illness, but now my parents are going to be in a different area in isolation, going through treatments, and the virus will eventually be gone and they can fly home."
