A couple from Norfolk have spoken of their relief after being able to marry just before all weddings were cancelled by the government.

Jessica Whitfield and Andrew Peal, from Hilborough in West Norfolk, were supposed to be saying their vows at Easter.

But they were offered a last-minute slot at St James Church in Southrepps on Monday, 23 March, just hours before Boris Johnson announced the coronavirus lockdown.

"We were starting to realise the wedding we had planned would not be going ahead. We had lots of guests coming from abroad and some elderly ones so we knew it wasn't going to happen. I'm just really happy we had a spontaneous wedding after all"

The couple said there was no problem with social distancing between guests as just ten people came.
