Four residents of a care home in Wellingborough have died after contracting Covid-19.

Three more residents at the Brockfield House nursing home in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, have tested positive and are being cared for in isolation, said owner AGE Nursing Homes.

It comes after the deaths of 15 care home residents in Luton and seven in east London.

An AGE spokesman said: "The company acted swiftly when incidents of the virus were first reported in the UK by implementing robust infection control procedures and locking down the home to visitors very early.

"It is with deep regret that despite these robust measures, some of our residents have contracted this virus.

"The home is following all government guidance to reduce the spread of the virus."

All four residents who died had underlying health conditions, he added. Twodied in the home and two died in hospital.

Brockfield House, in the village of Stanwick, looks after people with dementia and mental illness, according to the NHS.
