A choir from Milton Keynes has recorded a new 'lockdown' version of the classic Dame Vera Lynn song, 'We'll meet again', ahead of VE Day on the 8th May.

Musica Charity Choir MK wants to raise money for the MK Community Foundation Covid-19 Emergency Response Appeal.

The song was recorded from people's living rooms and has been released ahead of VE Day this week when the choir should have been out performing concerts.

“We hope this version will raise some smiles and also help to raise funds for services for local people most in need. Musica is delighted to be helping to spread the word about the Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal.”

“We will continue to provide support to meet the needs of our community as long as the pandemic continues and beyond. Our target is £400,000 by June and we are halfway there, all donations are appreciated and help us make a difference.”

Ranjit Singh, Philanthropy Director at Milton Keynes Community Foundation

Choir members recorded their lyrics from living rooms, studies, and gardens to create a virtual version of the wartime classic.

The Milton Keynes Community Foundation launched a Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal to generate much needed funds to support local community groups delivering frontline services, such as food, shopping or general wellbeing.

Musica Charity Choir MK should have been performing VE-Day concerts in May, but instead members have come together online to perform to help raise awareness of the emergency appeal and encourage people to give what they can.

  • We’ll Meet Again, Musica 2020 lockdown lyrics

Let’s stay locked down for a while dear,

But keep a smile dear while apart.

We'll keep two metres apart dear,

But I still love you sweetheart.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

Keep smiling through, just like you always do,

‘Till the vaccine drives this virus far away.

So will you please go online with your Skype and Face-time,

With your What's App or Zoom (What’s App or Zoom).

Or call friends on your phone so you feel less alone In your own living room.

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day. (ooo)

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

Keep smiling through, just like you always do,

‘Till the vaccine drives the virus far away.

These things we’ll do ‘cos we may: Exercise once a day,

Shop two metres apart. (metres apart)

And together we’ll win, as we beat it we’ll sing,

And remain in good heart.

We’ll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day. (sunny day)
