A coronavirus testing site for anyone showing symptoms is to open at a park and ride site on the edge of Norwich.

It will open at the Postwick Park and Ride car park on Saturday, 6 June, and will be the first testing centre in the county that non-essential workers can access.

So far people booking tests via the national system have been sent to Peterborough, Ipswich or Stansted.

Norfolk and Waveney CCG have been operating a network of testing sites, located at the region's three main hospitals, but these have only been available to essential workers.

In recent days, the government have stressed the importance of anyone showing symptoms - such as a fever, new cough or loss of taste or smell - to get tested.

Essential workers showing symptoms can book a test via the government website while non-essential workers can apply through the NHS.

Those booking tests will be shown available slots at Postwick, as well as Peterborough, Ipswich and Stansted.

Slots with a mobile testing unit, operating across the region, will also be shown if available.
