Thousands of teenagers across our region have picked up their A-level exam results today.
Overall the pass rate dropped for the first time in more than 30 years.
Here in the east the number of A* grades awarded increased very slightly - by 0.5% - as A grades fell by 0.4%.
But for many, it is not the grades but financial considerations which will decide whether or not they head to university.
