A HGV lorry, a pick up truck and a car have been involved in a serious collision on the A120.
Highways England say the HGV has overturned and a large amount of petrol has been spilt.
The road is closed in both directions between junction 25 (Marks Tay) and the B1024
It happened this morning at about 7am and emergency services and the air ambulance attended.
The fire service say they released a man who had been trapped in a vehicle.
A bus and lorry have crashed on the A120 near Colchester. A number of children and adults on the bus were injured.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent four ambulances to the scene near Great Bromley.
Essex Police said: "A bus, carrying children and adults, had been in collision with a lorry.
"Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured but a number of people are being treated by paramedics for minor injuries."
"The road is likely to be closed for some time while we investigate and the vehicles are recovered."
Four boys have been reprimanded by police after they threw water balloons at drivers near Stansted Airport.
The youngsters were seen throwing water balloons onto the A120 dual carriageway yesterday evening.
Two boys from the Bishop’s Stortford area, aged 10 and 11; and two boys from Harlow, aged 11 and 13, were given police reprimands after admitting their actions had indeed endangered motorists’ lives and could have caused a collision.
Police believe this to have been an isolated incident at the start of the school half-term holidays.

Police are appealing for information after a rock was thrown through the windsceen of a car on the A120 near Little Bentley.A female driver was lucky not to be hurt when the rock was thrown at her red Seat car near the B1035 turn off on Wednesday.
The woman was heading to Colchester when she saw a teenager or man standing on the near side of the A120 wearing jeans, a dark top and trainers.

Road closed at the B1352 Church Hill due to a jackknifed lorry.
The A120 Coggeshall Road is closed in both directions due to flooding around Hollies Road. Police are currently directing traffic.
