Lowry paintings set to fetch £15 million

One of the finest collections of paintings by LS Lowry is going under the hammer and is expected to make more than 15 million pounds.

It's an eye-watering sum, but what's even more amazing is that the paintings were owned by a man who started his career at the age of 14 collecting waste paper door-to-door near Newmarket.

A new trust may be set up to run the Cambridge Corn Exchange.

The City Council is considering handing over both the running of the building and the city's folk festival to a not for profit organisation.

It's hoped the move will secure the future of the venue

Show goes on whatever the weather

Northamptonshire County Council has pledged that the show will go on whatever the weather with three outdoor theatre performances taking place in the county's country parks this summer.

The first production takes place on Friday 22nd June with Much Ado About Nothing at Brixworth Country Park.

"Please don’t let the unsettled weather get in the way of you enjoying these unique performances in the beautiful surroundings of the country parks. Whatever the weather the plays will go ahead as long as it's safe for the actors to perform.”

– Cllr Heather Smith, Northamptonshire County Council
