Residents mocked a district council when 30 yellow signs appeared in their neighbourhood to announce that road marking works would take place from February 25 to 30.
People in Baldock, Hertfordshire, were puzzled when North Hertfordshire District Council included the non-existent February 29 and 30.
Some took to Twitter to poke fun, Darren Lucas told the council: "If you'd like my six-year-old to tell you how many days February has, let me know".
Another resident, Patrick Kavanagh, said: "Please let the North Herts District Council know that the residents of the Church Street and Orchard Road area appreciate the decision of the council to add two days to the month of February."
Hertfordshire Police are warning people to be vigilant in the run up to Christmas following a number of burglaries in Baldock and Royston.
Officers say thieves tend to strike in the late afternoon or early evening and are stealing jewellery, electrical items and Christmas presents.

A light aircraft has crashed into a field at Ashwell near Baldock. It happened on Friday 18th May when the single seater plane came down near Newnham Way.
