Police have made a new appeal for information to catch the killers of a grandfather from Kempston in Bedfordshire.

It's been three months since Sharif Damirsay, who was 65, was murdered in his own home.

Kempston murder update

Detectives investigating the murder of Kempston man, Sharif Demirsay, are looking into a car fire in Corby Close yesterday morning to establish any connection.

It was was deliberately started by a man who was seen to smash the window of the blue BMW and pour accelerant into it.

Turkish-born Sharif, 65, was killed in his home at Vineyard Way on 14 May at about 9.30pm, when three offenders knocked at his door and when he opened it, they stabbed him to death in front of his partner.

Det Insp Richard Wall of the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit said: "We are investigating whether there is a link between this car fire and the murder.

"We are moving ever closer to establish who killed this man and why and we will be relentless in our pursuit of those responsible."
