Two victims of acid attacks have been speaking to ITV News about how the trauma has changed their lives.
It comes after three cases in a matter of months in Essex and Suffolk.
Darren Pidgeon, who was attacked by a stranger in Rayleigh in June, has now been offered free treatment for his scarring at PHI Clinic London.
"It's a random attack. I don't know them and they've done this to me.
Forty seconds or a minute of them doing that has left me with a lifetime of injuries."
Today, former model Katie Piper, who was attacked in 2008, received an honorary degree at Anglia Ruskin University to recognise the work she has done to help others.
