Residents fear town is under threat from relaxed planning rules

Residents of a picturesque Hertfordshire town fear their community is going to double in size because of the amount of new homes planned for the area. Permission has already been given for over one thousand houses in Buntingford with plans for hundreds more. The well known magazine Country Life has identified Buntingford as a place where local people have fought - and largely lost plans for major developments. Many believe developers are taking advantage of more relaxed planning rules to build on land where permission would previously have been refused. Here's a report by Matthew Hudson...
