Police appeal after man, 40, stabbed in Bedfordshire

A 40-year-old man was left with serious injuries after being stabbed in Bedfordshire on Tuesday.

The victim was walking along the river in Kempston, near Bedford, at about 7.40pm when he was approached by two men.

He was stabbed and suffered what police described as "serious but not life-threatening" injuries.

The victim made his way to St John's Street and the emergency services were called.

Both attackers were white and in their early 30s. One was 5ft 8in to 6ft tall with dark hair, the second was about 5ft 2in and was wearing a dark-coloured top.

"This is a nasty, unprovoked attack and the victim is lucky not to have been more seriously injured.

"The weapon used is believed to be a small, bladed knife and we ask anyone in the vicinity who may see the weapon discarded to call us."
