The Princes Theatre in Clacton has been given a facelift costing £19,000.

The venue, which is the Town Hall of the Essex resort, has had a new carpet, curtains, redecoration as well as improvements to the bar area in the Essex Hall.

The theatre, which is run by Tendring District Council, puts on a varied programme of shows and hosts a number of major events during the year. It is also hired out for weddings and conferences

“We want our audiences, our entertainers and all those who use the theatre to have the best possible experience and look forward to coming back.

“I think it is fair to say that parts of the theatre were looking a little tired and were in need of a modernisation programme.

“We have achieved a great deal on a relatively small budget – especially considering the size of the theatre - and I hope people will be impressed with what they find."

– Cllr Mick Skeels, Tendring District Council

In 2014 more than 36,000 customers came through the doors for shows.
