Patients could be removed from surgery lists if they don't visit GP for 5 years

Controversial plans could see patients who do not visit their GP for more than five years removed from their local surgery's register.

The idea put forward by NHS bosses in the East of England is designed to cut costs and free up space on growing surgery lists.

Critics say it will end up punishing the healthy and many GPs say it is an administrative burden.

The plans were uncovered by pulse magazine.
