A14 Cambridge average speed cameras to be scrapped

If you commute using the A14 in Cambridge every day, then news that the controversial average speed cameras are to be scrapped may come as some relief, but campaigners are raising fears that the stretch of road could become a "racetrack".

Highways England have confirmed the cameras will go as part of the ongoing upgrade.

"Why put them there in the first place if they now don't want to have them? This can only be dangerous and what we'll get is the A14 turning into a race track. The comparison is with the A1 at Peterborough with its three lanes which is a racetrack with people doing very high speeds."
