A tortoise has been stolen from a farm in Essex.

Tommy the tortoise went missing from The Salvation Army's rare breed centre in Hadleigh.

The nine-year-old Hermann tortoise is described as being about eight inches long.

Centre manager Emma Sayer said: "Tommy was last seen during a birthday party at the centre and was discovered missing at the end of the day.

"Tommy was one of three tortoises at the centre and we would like to reunite him with his two female companions.”
