Essex stays in Conservative control

The Conservative retain their overall working majority in Essex.

With more than half the results declared in Essex, the County Council remains firmly in the hands of the Conservatives.

The Conservatives have won 41 of the 75 seats so far taking them past the 'winning post' of 38 needed for an overall majority.

The Tories have had control of Essex County Council since 1997.
