Tories retain power in Hertfordshire

The Conservatives have secured an overall majority in Hertfordshire.

The Conservatives have retained their overall majority on Hertfordshire County Council with two-thirds of the seats declared.

The Tories have so far won 41 of the 78 divisions in Hertfordshire taking them past the 'winning post' for a working majority.

The party went into the election with an overall majority of 15 and the council has been Conservative controlled since 2001.
