Essex firefighters are dealing with a chemical spill after a lorry crash on the A127 near Rayleigh.

A drum containing 25 litres of sodium hypochlorite, which is used to make bleach, has tipped over and split inside the lorry and the liquid is leaking onto the roadway.

Four fire engines and a specialist chemical incident unit are at the scene at Rayleigh Weir working to make the area safe and stop the chemical entering the rivers and drains.
