Former Norfolk student killed in Leicester blast

Staff at Norwich City College have paid tribute to a former student who's been named as one of the five people killed in an explosion in Leicester.

The blast destroyed a Polish supermarket and two-storey flat on 25th February.

Viktorija Ljevleva

22-year-old Viktorija Ljevleva has been named as one of those who died.

She had studied A-levels and completed a degree at City College in Norwich in 2016.

Staff at the college have been shocked by news of her death.

"Viktorija was a friendly, cheerful and determined student who was set on a career in accountancy from the off. I tutored her over her 2 years studying A Levels and got to know her really well and I am devastated to hear this awful news."

– Roz Hicks, Sixth Form Centre Curriculum Programme Manager, City College Norwich

"We are incredibly saddened by this tragic news. Viktorija was a bright, hard-working student, with a real passion for finance and accounting. She was a lovely person, very friendly, who got on well with her peers whom she was always happy to help with maths-related problems. Viktorija enjoyed asking challenging business questions, which reflected her wonderfully inquisitive nature. Our thoughts are with Viktorija's family and friends."

– James Gardiner, Business, Leadership & Humanities Degrees Academic Leader, City College Norwich
