A dozen sheep left dead after dogs attack

A police investigation has been launched after two dogs left up to a dozen sheep dead in a field in East Hertfordshire.

The dogs were seen chasing the sheep in a field near Much Hadham early this morning (Sunday). So far around 12 sheep have died and police say that figure may rise as injuries are assessed.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control in a public place.

We have worked to detain the dogs this morning and trace their owners as well as the owners of the sheep. Work is also underway to gather forensic evidence in relation to what happened.

We understand this is an emotive issue and we recognise the impact it can have on our rural community. We are doing everything we can to investigate this matter so that where appropriate charges can be brought against anyone found to be responsible.
