Man left in critical condition after Suffolk assault

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after an assault in Bury St Edmunds in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 24th November).

Police say the 70-year old man was walking with his son on Tayfen Road near the fire station, when they were approached by a man at around 2.30am. The victim was then punched in the head, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect ran off towards the Wilkinson's car park. The victim's son was also injured.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • In his 20s
  • Athletic build
  • Bald head
  • Wearing a dark quilted jacket and jeans

The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
