Fears about university CCTV cameras overlooking nearby homes

The University of Northampton has reassured neighbours that CCTV cameras cannot see into their homes.

The University of Northampton has had to write to residents living nearby to reassure them that campus CCTV cameras cannot see into their homes.

It comes after a former security guard alleged some of the cameras on the new Waterside site have a direct view of some private gardens and even bedrooms.

The University says the technology that is used means any private areas caught on surveillance are automatically blacked out - an explanation that's done little to calm the nerves of those nearby.
