Record numbers using food banks in the Anglia region

There has been unprecedented demand for food banks across the East of England.

December is usually the busiest time of year because of Christmas but for Cambridge food bank, 2018 saw record numbers of people in need of help. There was a 35% rise in demand during the year.

The Trussell Trust which supports more than 400 foodbanks across the UK says demand is rising by around 10% each year.

The Christmas Food Bank Appeal at the Central England Co-op in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk has had 75,000 items donated which was enough to create more than 30,000 meals for people in need.
