Milton Keynes staging cancer surgery trial

A hairdresser from Woburn Sands whose mother died from cancer is taking part in a trial to see whether women undergoing breast cancer treatment are having unnecessary surgery.

Colleen Thomson is undergoing the trial at Milton Keynes hospital. Researchers there want to see if patients can be treated in other ways - avoiding the need for an operation which often leads to swelling, pain and numbness.
