Delay repay debate MP caught in rail delay

Colchester MP Will Quince obviously tempted fate when he held a debate urging the introduction of a new delay repay scheme.

Currently passengers have to be delayed by 30 minutes to be eligible for compensation. The Conservative wants that cut to 15 minutes.

He arrived at Liverpool Street this evening only to find that a power failure had led to delays on mainline.

The delays are currently running at 30 minutes - so at least he'll be eligible for the current delay repay scheme.

Greater Anglia last year said it was "looking into extending delay repay to delays between 15 minutes and 30 minutes, although it was not part of the Greater Anglia’s franchise agreement to do so."
