Jail for man who threatened to shoot staff in Essex shop

A man's been jailed for four and a half years after trying to rob a newsagents in Essex with a fake gun.

Scott Cotier, of no fixed address, threatened to shoot staff at the shop in Clacton High Street in January.

The shopkeeper refused to open the till and called 999.

Cotier was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court after pleading guilty to attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
