Search for missing baby stood down

A search has been called off in the Irish Sea after reports that a baby fell overboard with a woman from a ferry travelling from Cairnryan to Belfast on Wednesday night.

Police have said they now believe there was no baby on board with the woman.

The woman was rescued and is now recovering in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where her condition is described as stable.

The search involved Police, coastguard members of the public lifeboats and numerous vessels from Belfast harbour.
