The highest points scorer in Scottish rugby union history, Chris Paterson, had the honour of bringing the torch into Galashiels, he paraded around the Gala Fairydean football club to loud cheers from youngsters and adults alike.

Chris explained to our reporter Jenny Longden what an honour it was to be a torch bearer:

The leader of Scottish Borders Council, David Parker, and the Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore, both joined in the celebrations at Galashiels.
