A firm that makes horse rugs in a Scottish Borders village have landed a major contract to make rugs for horses competing in the Olympic games.

Teviot Equine at Roberton near Hawick already make rugs for major events, including the Grand National and Burghley Horse Trails.

The outfit, run by couple Joyce and Colin Hendie and one other full time staff member, work from a converted lamb shed on their farm.

They will make 60 rugs for London 2012, and sponsor New Zealand eventer Caroline Powell, who is based in Kelso.

Joyce Hendrie from Teviot Equine says:

"We have manufactured here for over 12 years now, this is a lambing shed that we have converted. We started of repairing horse rugs for local people and it escalated from there. Now we are doing jobs for the Grand National, Olympics and a few Olympic riders."
