Scottish Secretary Michael Moore has used a speech in Washington to highlight the importance of the borders cashmere industry.
Mr Moore is currently in the USA and Canada to promote Scotland and strengthen it's relationship with key trade and export markets.
Speaking at Georgetown University, the Borders MP said the Scottish cashmere industry, which has a reputation around the world for quality, is mostly based in his constituency.
Scottish cashmere exports have seen a growth in recent years.
Mr Moore said that it “demonstrates the strength of this industry."
“The Scottish cashmere industry has an important base here in the Borders and I know that the North American markets are absolutely vital for our local businesses. “I’m pleased to be here, promoting Scottish industries such as cashmere. "It has been fantastic to see a growth in Scottish exports in recent years but I want to see our exports grow even more."
At a separate business event in Washington, he also highlighted the vote of confidence given to the sector by Chanel, who recently acquired Barrie Knitwear in Hawick.
