More than 360 horses and riders have taken part in the Braw Lads Gathering in Galashiels.

The cavalcade follow the Braw Lad and Lass, a local man and woman elected to the prestigious position. This year, the leading roles were taken up by Daniel Whitehead and Lucy Black.

Last year's Braw Lad - Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania - was also following on horseback as one of the six principal riders.

The 23-year-old, who romped to victory on Auroras Encore in the famous race at Aintree in April, said:

"I stood here last year thinking, I made a speech saying the only thing that would top being Braw Lad would be to win the Grand National and then I went and done it!"

The annual festival began in 1930 to celebrate the town's history, but commemorates events that happened in the 14th and 16th centuries.
