A curry night in Melrose raised more than £5,000 for a soldiers' charity - well above the team's target.

It was organised by Katy Leigh and Lesley Wilkinson, whose sons are both serving soldiers.

Around 200 people came along, to enjoy the food, and hear former Corporal Stuart Pearson speak - he and his colleagues were severely injured in Afghanistan in 2006 when they unknowingly entered a legacy Soviet minefield.
