His family led a procession through the town, past the memorials that have been left at the crossing where he died.

They then attended the funeral service at the Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels.

The Reverend Russell Tague, who led the service said the tragedy had brought the community together, and that Mikey's family want the day to be about remembering him, and the wonderful life he had, rather than mourning.

After his death, Michael Wolfe's family released a tribute to him, through the police:

Mikey had a heart as big as the moon and a smile that would melt your heart.

Mikey loved One Direction and going to the seaside but the one thing he loved the best was winding his sisters and brother up. He was a master at this.

Mikey will be missed by us and everyone who knew him. Thank you to Cumbria Police, Longtown Fire Brigade, and all the people of Longtown.”
