Weather for the Border region for Saturday night onwards

It's been a wet and windy Saturday, and by Sunday morning Cumbria will have received up to 300mm rainfall during this event. Appleby, Keswick, Kendle, Hawick and Carlisle have all been badly hit by the heavy rain and floods.

Saturday evening and night:

Further heavy rain, although easing for a time this evening before becoming heavier again in early hours. Clearing to showers later in the night with winds turning westerly and easing strong, though colder with showers wintry on higher ground. Minimum Temperature 3 °C.

Sunday:

Bright spells and showers, some heavy and wintry on hills, though isolated across East Lothian and the Borders. Westerly winds increasing gale force but easing later, then a frost developing. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Rain on Monday, some heavy with strengthening southerly winds, though drier and brighter spell in afternoon. Frequent showers Tuesday, winds easing later. Mainly dry start Wednesday, then wet and windy.
