Two men have been rushed to hospital after being struck by a fallen tree as they tried to remove another fallen tree from the A7.
At 3pm, a 57-year-old man - who sustained serious leg injuries - and a man aged 27, got off a public service bus on the A7 road just south of Galashiels, to remove the tree which was blocking the roadway.
They were hit by another falling tree which also landed on the front of the Edinburgh to Hawick X95 bus in 70mph gusts.
Both men were rushed to Borders General Hospital.
That particular stretch of the road is very tricky at the best of times. But this is very scary. The wind is getting stronger as the day goes on and the police were saying it is too dangerous to walk down there. They warned there is a real danger of more falling trees."
