A group of women, who call themselves the "Beijing Biddies and Babes" have set off on a 2,700-mile charity drive to the Arctic Circle.

They were waved off by friends, family and Carlisle's mayor, from Carlisle city centre at 11am.

They're aiming to drive to Nordkapp, 350 miles inside the Arctic Circle, in tough winter conditions to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Watch them embark on their trip:

Two years ago Edwina Sorking and Kate Sleath set off on a charity drive to Beijing, and called themselves the Beijing Biddies.

This year, they're joined by three other women - Helen Stobart, Liz Tinkler and Kerrie Ellison - and are now calling themselves the "Beijing Biddies and Babes".
