A mother and grandmother have been killed in collision that has left their family members seriously injured.
The victim's son, a three-year-old boy, and her father, a 74-year-old man, were badly hurt in the crash at Newby Cross in Carlisle.
Police were called to the incident just after 3pm on February 23 near Sowerby Wood, which involved a Ford Transit van and a Kia Picanto.
The passengers in the Kia, a 29-year-old from Carlisle, and a 71-year-old from Carlisle, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 74-year-old driver of the Kia, from Carlisle, and his two-year-old grandson, were flown by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
The three-year-old boy's condition was described as serious but stable. The man, has sustained life threatening injuries and is in a critical condition, police say.
The driver of the van, a 51-year-old man from Aspatria, was taken to Carlisle Infirmary with minor injuries.
Specially trained officers are supporting the families at this time.
