Three local groups are working together to try and make Stranraer a tourist destination once again.

The town has suffered badly since the Stena Line ferry terminal was moved six miles up the road to Cairnryan.

Locals are hoping that investment in the area will help attract more tourists into the town and the wider region.

People in the town have set up three local groups to boost tourism - Stranraer Town and Rural Trust, Stranraer Development Trust and the Community Council.

One local man is hoping to provide a boost for the group's cause by attempting to set a new world record.

On 31 July Philip Miller will attempt to set the record for the longest distance covered by a mobility scooter in ten hours.
