The largest wooden playground in the country is opening at Lowther Castle in Penrith on Tuesday 2nd August.

The hand-built playground is made from 11 miles of sustainably sourced timber. It's the brainchild of Jim Lowther, who designed the tree canopy to echo the castle's own structure.

“We wanted to create something remarkable designed to delight children and grown-ups in equal measure. I’m astounded at how beautiful it is, nestled high in the treetops, overlooking the woodland planted by my father. The Lost Castle captures the spirit of Lowther and it will delight generations of children visiting the castle.”

To celebrate the opening, Lowther Castle is hosting a Dragon Garden Party for 100 children from the Eden Valley.
