The A7 will shut for six days in total as resurfacing work is carried out on the busy stretch of road.

The stretch from north of Stow to the Midlothian boundary will be shut for the works from 8am to 4pm on Friday 28 and Monday 31 October, and Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 November.

The closure will allow improvements to be made to various sections of the road, including the Heriot bends which will be resurfaced.

The X95 bus service will run as normal and access will be available to local residents.

“This section of the route is used by almost 5,400 vehicles every day according to statistics from the A7 Action Group, and I am sure the improvements will be welcomed by motorists."

Councillor Gordon Edgar, Scottish Borders Council’s Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure
