A map revealing the filming locations of the hit TV series, Outlander, has been released by VisitScotland.

Fans of the series, which is based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, can follow in the footsteps of their favourite characters by visiting the locations across Scotland - including one in Dumfries and Galloway.

Most of the action of the second series of Outlander is set in France, but places like Drumlanrig Castle were used as substitutes for French scenes.

You can see a copy of the locations map here.

Opportunities to be part of such globally popular shows such as Outlander really help to put historic venues such as ours on the map and increases awareness of Scotland as a whole. Outlander has such an incredible following so it was great to share Dumfries and Galloway with that audience.”
