Bus operator, First Borders, is selling it's operations in the Scottish Borders as it says the introduction of the Borders Railway means it's no longer sustainable.

It's agreed to sell the Scotland East and Borders service to West Coast Motors, which is expected to happen on 25 March.

The Galashiels depot, Peebles, Hawick and Kelso outstations, and all employees, will transfer to West Coast Motors.

“Despite the focus on services and the hard work of everyone across our business, unfortunately the introduction of the Borders Railway in 2015 has impacted demand for bus travel and our services our becoming increasingly unsustainable.

Paul McGowan, Managing Director of First Scotland East
