A man has appeared in court charged with 35 offences in the Scottish Borders.

The 29-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested in connection with a number of housebreakings, thefts and thefts of motor vehicles.

They took place between 23 March and 10 April in the Galashiels and Hawick areas.

The man appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Wednesday, April 19, and was remanded in custody.

He has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for further offences.

We will thoroughly investigate all instances of housebreakings and associated crimes in our effort to detect offenders and hold them to account.

We have a dedicated and specialist unit working in the Scottish Borders to safeguard homes and property.

Those who commit crimes of dishonesty are opportunistic and I would remind members of the public to ensure they lock their vehicles and properties to prevent further offences from occurring.
