A woman has appeared in court, accused of picking a child up from school while being five times over the alcohol limit.

Margaret Miller, 45, of Loanwath Road, Gretna, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to driving with 114 micrograms of alcohol on her breath, at Victory Avenue in Gretna.

The limit is 22 micrograms.

She also denied a charge of driving dangerously when pupils were leaving the nearby Gretna Primary School, and while carrying a child in the car.

It is alleged that Miller drove in reverse gear along a footpath while pedestrians and children were walking on it and collided with a bush.

She will stand trial in June.
